FLOWER POWER

DESIGNER STATEMENT

The Flower Power Collection is a visual and wearable call for peace. Rooted in the belief that children belong to the world—and that they are the future—it speaks through innocence, hope, and the universal language of love.

Inspired by the 1960s flower child movement, the collection reimagines its ideals for today’s political climate. Symbols like the peace sign and Spanish-language text remind us that the message of unity transcends borders.

At its core is the "No War" shirt—an urgent plea for ceasefire and a call to listen to the children who suffer most in conflict. Their voices carry the clearest demand for amor y paz.

The recurring watermelon motif, rich with meaning in Palestinian culture, stands as a quiet act of resistance and a symbol of solidarity. These garments challenge messages of division with a vision of peace, justice, and shared humanity.

Crafted with donated and deadstock fabrics from like-minded institutions, and made in Milwaukee, the collection reflects Casita Prado’s commitment to sustainability and community.

Flower Power is more than a collection—it’s a reminder that fashion can be a force for change, and that a more peaceful world begins with what we choose to wear.
